Wer bislang geglaubt hatte, das Buffalo-Revial und die Zeit der Plastic Fantastic 90er Jahre Welt wären längst vom nächsten Trend verschluckt worden, der hat die Rechnung ohne Ashish gemacht: ‘Beach, Please!’ heißt die neueste Kollaboration mit Londons liebsten Retailer Topshop und die kommt nicht ohne Blingbling in Buffalo-Tretern aus, nicht ohne Statement-Shirts und schon gar nicht ohne den typischen tacky-Einschlag des Labels.
LED-Lämpchen, Frottee und ganz viel Plastik. Die 10. Topshop x Ashish Kollaboration bereitet uns nicht bloß auf den Sommer vor, sie holt uns das Hotel-Feeling direkt ins eigene Heim. Ich bin an dieser Stelle ausnahmsweise raus, kann den Plateau-Treter-Trend langsam wirklich leider überhaupt nicht mehr sehen, nehme im Urlaub eh immer nur alte Handtücher mit und setze diesmal einfach aus. Für wen die neueste Kollaboration trotzdem der letzte Schrei ist, der schaue jetzt einfach genauer hin und merke sich den 29. Mai vor – dann nämlich ist das Ganze online. Na, und wer gehört jetzt schon zu den prominenten Anhängern?

How did you come up for the idea for the collection / Paradise Hotel?
‘I love summer holidays, and I wanted to create a tongue-in-cheek idea of being at a luxury hotel on the beach. I wanted to design things I would love to see at a pool party or a beach rave.’
Which is your favourite piece and why?
‘It’s impossible to pick one! The LED shoes because they are literally like a portable disco, plus I need ALL the towels for my next holiday. The “I want to —— your ——-” t-shirt is going to be put to some very creative use, I may need to buy a few of them! And I am completely obsessed with the LED backpack.’
And also – no sequins, was that for a reason?
‘Well there is a tiny bit of sequinnage, on the mesh pieces. But in a way I think LED lights are almost like light up sequins. Sequins are like a long term love, this collection is like my holiday fling
